Intermediate Division

The Intermediate Division is comprised of Ballet I, Ballet II, Ballet III and Boy Strength & Conditioning. Instructors focus on strengthening the fundamental principles of classical ballet technique, which is the foundation for the more complex movements that will be executed in the advanced division.

Students will advance from one level to the next through faculty evaluation, and at the discretion of the Artistic Director. The progress of each student is based on the individual’s technical ability, physical aptitude, strength, classroom effort and attendance. Advancement is based on ability, not age and it is common for a student to repeat a level.

Performance experience is an integral part of a dancer’s training at Ballet Conservatory. All intermediate division students have the opportunity to participate in the end of year performance in May. Additional performance opportunities may be offered to students as part of the Ballet Conservatory performing company.

The minimum number of classes required for each level is listed below. Intermediate division students may take additional classes in lower levels at no charge.
